About
As the site name and title page imply, I’m a 50-something woman who’s taken up motorcycling. A few have raised an eyebrow slightly and mouthed the expected “mid-life crisis” label, but I prefer to think of it as mid-life affirmation. I’m a longtime hot-rodder and gear-head, so it only makes sense. It’s just that the folks who know me only as a software trainer, graphic arts consultant, and writer are a bit surprised.
I’m currently riding a sportbike (2005 Suzuki SV650), but I’m not a wheelie-prone hooligan. I took a Motorcycle Safety Foundation-endorsed course (Harley’s Riders Edge program) before I bought my first bike. They strongly emphasize safety and good riding habits, and I emphatically recommend that anyone considering riding take the course. Don’t let your husband/father/brother/boyfriend/neighbor teach you. Learn from the pros.
